The natural, protected environment has an array of animals enjoying the wild apples, acres of clover all with fresh water streams to drink from. Visiting the camping area you may see the resident herd of elk, deer, a red fox or two, wild turkeys, chipmunks (looking for a treat), even a wolf now and again, or at least here them in the evening. Let's not forget all types of wild birds. No worries, animals like the enormous elk, believe they are "family", usually more interested in what you are doing than bothering you!

During the day the camping area has miles of groomed, scenic trails for hiking or cycling. If you want to venture future the town of Bancroft is only 15 minutes away with many interesting spots to visit

Want to experience a full night of viewing? Why not plan a stay at Nutwood Observatory's nature-based camping area. Here the astronomer has everything they need to enjoy viewing. If your group would like to arrange a star party, this spot will not disappoint you.

The Nutwood Observatory is located on a private  2000 acre
park land. The property has been designated as an exclusive  "dark sky region." Elevation is 2400 feet and with a dark sky rating of 21 and better, a 360 degree field of view of the sky, makes this night sky seeing the best it can be.

The camping area provides, scope pads, fire pits, picnic tables and outhouses with toilets,wash basins and urinals. Fresh water is available a short walk away from an outside hose at the main observatory.
